Gnome install problem on RH 5.2

I ran the install-gnome script off the RH 5.2 cdrom and it dies with a
failed dependency of imlib 1.8  I checked and I have imlib 1.8-5 installed
(done as part of my initial install of RH).  I then tried to upgrade imlib
to imlib1.8.1 from the gnome RPMS and it failed do to decencies of 1.8-5.
Should I do an upgrade of imlib with no decendency checks so it will
install?  All help is appreciated.
