esound and replay

I've got this really nifty setup wherein replay runs with cron to play a
playlist of my girlfriend's voice to wake me up in the morning.
I'm attempting to move to enlightenment and gnome, but as a result the
esound demon lets the mp3's play on top of one another, completely
ruining the point.
is there anything I can do to fix this?
