  I have yet to see a program that never crashes.  Mistakes happen, no matter
how many years you spend debugging the code.  Part of being robust is to deal
with things going wrong, such as and old instance of the program dying and
leaving files behind.  I personally think that this (and similar things like
the gmc metadata.lock problem) should be fixed before 1.0, but I'm not
surprised that the developers are spending more time getting stuff to stop
crashing.:-)
