gnomecc failing

hi everyone.

i just updated gnome to the latest cvs version (0.99.8.1) if i believe
correctly. now the control center refuses to work. this is what i get when i
start it up:

and it loads fine. then i click an item in the tree on the left - and
everything freezes.. i can't click on other windows.. it's as if the window
manager is frozen.

so i have to kill gnomecc in order to regain control of my machine. i get this
as it quits:
