Cut and Paste Question

I'm using gnome and enlightenment on a laptop that has a two button touchpad mouse.

I'm using Eterm and I would like to be able to copy and paste a block of text from one Eterm and paste it into another.

Do I have to change my .Xdefaults if I wan't to do this, or can this be done by using a combination of control keys?
