libXpm and gnome-libs

I am a bit behind the times, compiling gnome-libs-0.99.6, but
configure does not check if libxpm is installed, which is a
common over sight when people install X (or re-compile - eg.
under libc6).

The advantage would be putting a URL to ftp.x.org in there if
it is not present.
