As for the scrollbar problem, are you seeing a tiny handle which allows
you to scroll over an area larger than the icon list?  If so, this has
been fixed in CVS.  We recently made some small changes to the icon list
so you could pack it directly in a scrolled window.  Before the change you
would get the scroll adjustments of the GtkLayout base class, whichs
allowed scrolling over a larger area.
