Help needed starting gnome

Hi,

I am new to gnome and have failed to successfully start it up. The error
messages I obtain are included below. I downloaded and installed all
.rpm packeges from gnome's ftp server, except for the 'development'
ones. The problem seems to be with the 'gdk_imlib'. The files it cannot
open, e.g. in /usr/share/pixmaps/tiles/ are actually PRESENT and open
fine with xv. Also, at least the imlib_config tool works perfectly.
