Oops, ignore my previous posting, just ran across this one.

-*- I had the same problem until I pulled down glib 1.1.14 and gtk
-*- 1.1.14 from gtk.org.  Why the Gnome site isn't up-to-date for these
-*- libraries, I have no idea.  It allowed me to compile nearly
-*- evrything recent module, many of which had similar build problems on
