gmc not detecting file types

GMC has been detecting every file I have as text/plain.  Very annoying 
when I want to double-click on an image to open it, for instance.

Is anyone else having this problem, or know of a possible solution?  I 
put in a bug report about it already, but just wanted to follow up
here.  I'm using MC off the CVS from yesterday, and 2.2.1 kernel.
