ESD not working.

When i start a gnome program from shell i get this message:

Unable to connect to server port 35091
This generally means that the program could not talk to the esound
server

however enlightenment is producing sounds without problem.
why is it?
gnome doesnt make sounds at all, never,
i tought it is because its not implemented, 
but i can guess that it does, just not on my machine....

what can i do about this?
