Server err

So, the attached file shows the server error that I am getting when logging 
into gnome as root.  I can log in as another ok as well as doing an su to 
root from the other user's shell.

Before this problem occurred, I had overwritten the gif file that root was 
using as the gui background.  Again, the non-root user works fine with the 
new background.

Any suggestions ?
