i'm not disputing that my compiler is broken. i don't undeerstand, though, why the compile was working fine until a few days ago, and just stopped working when i did not upgrade/modify it or it's libraries. something that i installed has broken it, and the only LIBS i have installed are gnome ones, so i thought i would pursue that. somehow i doubt reinstalling my compiler will fix this (although i may try that just to eliminate that possibility) i just want to figure out what broke it so i can fix it (or else i will have to find a heel of a lot of packages in .i38.rpm format)
The problem is in the compiler you are using, not GNOME.
