Some people who sort mailing list mail into folders don't like the subject
line tags, as they are redundant when the mail has been sorted.  For this
reason, they might set up procmail filters to remove these tags.

I guess the people who set up this list don't like the tags.

I suppose it is always possible to set up procmail to add a [gnome] tag to
mail in your incomming mail box.
