The upgrade is definitely worth the time. If you are going to RH6, the new
rpms on Dax Kelson's ftp site (ftp.gurulabs.com) definitely have made gnome
and E much nicer and robust/stable. 

Upgrading the rpms is highly recommended.  I have done so on both my linux
desktop and laptop.  Things are quite nice now.
