Re: Um, hello;-}

Here are some more details for the problem I mailed about.
I have redhat linux 5.2 running on a pentium 75 machine. Since
proclaiming "I want to see gnome on my desktop" I have downloaded
numerous binary rpm's and in turn uninstalled them and replaced them
with the sources I've compiled on my machine (sorry I don't have a list
of what all I've compiled, I'm not setting in front of my linux box
right now).

I hope this helps and thanks for the responses I've gotten today.

Cliff

Cliff,

Sorry to hear you've not had a good respons to your compile problem.

Really, we need to know what OS and compiler you are running.

Gnome-libs should build out of the box, with no tweaking required
at all. Some OS's may need system specific tweaks, but gnome-libs
is usually pretty well behaved here.

If you are using Linux, it should build in a day or so.
On Solaris, things are a little more tricky, but there's
nothing too difficult - my page at
http://www.clanger9.demon.co.uk/computer/gnome
should tell you all you need to know.

Good luck,

Paul.
