It's also in the ~/.gnome/CORBA-servers file.
After hand-editing the ~/.gnome_private/panel file, and the
~/.gnome/CORBA-servers file to include an entry for DISPLAY=0.0 (the
second zero was missing), everything worked fine.
This problem may also have implications on the baboon library, when
the display variable is used to find the CORBA name server.

maybe the best thing would be to ignore the screen part of the DISPLAY
variable. It's only necessary for multiscreen setups and then all
screens are used by the same person anyway.
