probs running gmailman and gnome unified link to printers

When trying to run gmailman and "gnome unified link to printers" I get the
following problem with both:

gmailman, gnome unified link to printers

Gdk-Message: locale not supported by C library

** ERROR **: Could not create per-user Gnome directory </home/sar/.gnome>
- abo$

aborting...


Any ideas?  Just figured I would inform someone.
