Is it the language that you like (i.e. object pascal), or the
development environment?
If it's the language, I'm sure there are lots of other similar
imperative object oriented languages we could tempt you with - objective
C, C++, Java, (and my current personal favourate) Python.

If it's the RAD gui builder etc.. then you could have a look at 'glade'
before you proceed - there'll be a link off the gnome page
(www.gnome.org).

I find XEmacs to be a very good development IDE for source code and
compilation (and I use Visual Developer Studio at work as a comparison).
