Funny, yesterday evening I thought the same about gnomecard,
too, after I tried to import my addresses from a MS Excel Sheet to
MS Outlook to export it again as a VCard record :-). After two hours I
gave up since I couldn't convince Outlook to read my adressrecords.
I'm not a specialist in this area. What I thought of, was to have an IDL
description to access a adressbook/calender, an editor to change
records like gnomecal/gnomecard, some backends to access the data as
textfiles, databases, ... This is so trivial, that I can't believe
that there isn't a standard, yet, and this is although so trivial,
that this can't fit all needs one might expect from an
addressbok/calendar. Only exchanging complete vCalendar/vCard records
can't be all.
Dirk
