Updating, I noticed that the dotfile generator has a module for setting up
procmail. It's no picnic looking at the thing, but I suppose it could be
used as a sort of starting point.
Keeping the filters distinct from the mailer is the whole advantage, the
way I see it. Sometimes I connect to my computer remotely and just use
pine, other times I flirt with different mail agents, but the filtering is
always a messy situation, and I'd like it if the same folders were
available, and the same filtering were occurring, regardless of the mail
program I was using to read the stuff.
I'm (not totally, but seriously) lacking in experience with GUI
programming, but I'd like to give this a shot. Any suggestions for
organization, features, &c would be a big help. I can look at the
filtering set-ups available in netscape mail, ishmail, and xfmail, but I
don't have any others. Maybe somebody could send me a screenshot or two,
if you think they would be of any help. Anybody who'd like to help me out
on the programming end is welcome.
