Here are my suggestions:

gnome-support: add an inet_aton function. many packages provide
alternate implementations (ORBit, esound, gxsnmp, grpm, ...), and
help-browser lacks one.

intl: rather than compile statically everything with libintl.a on
systems where -lintl is not GNU (ie systems which have to be configured
with --with-included-gettext), why not install a libgnome-intl.so which
would be shared by everybody?
