Hello,
I'm having trouble installing GNOME via RPMs, and don't see any other
obvious place to feedback.
I was trying to install the glib-1.1.3-1.i386.rpm and
gtk+-1.1.2-1.i386.rpm, but the latter didn't recognize the presence of
the former, and gave a "failed dependencies" error. I didn't find
glib/gtk+ rpms on www.gtk.org (or anywhere else), just tarballs, and I'd
like to use RPMs because I'm installing on a newbie's machine.
Also (but less important), the glib10-1.0.6 and gtk+10-1.0.6 conflict
with glib-1.0.6 and gtk+-1.0.6 which came with RedHat 5.2. Why are
these here? Why are they necessary? Why not just a new 1.0-track
version of glib and gtk+? I installed them with --force, but this seems
like silly redundancy to me.
If this is not the proper forum, please let me know where to post.
Thank you very much,
