Currently there are two things a Gnome-compliant window manager must
do:

1. Implement the extended wm hints as specified by Marko (the icewm
author).  The spec was posted to this list.  I don't actually know if
Gnome uses these hints yet, but presumably it will some day.

2. Implement the client side of session management, per the X Session
Management Protocol spec.  As far as I know icewm is the only wm that
does this.
