What sort of thing were you picturing?


I know of two possibilities available right now:

1. You can run a program on a remote machine and set DISPLAY to point
locally.  This is a feature of X, not Gnome.

2. You can use MC to browse things like ftp archives.


If you were motivated you could write a new virtual filesystem that
worked by using rsh/ssh to the remote machine somehow.  This would let
you manipulate files on any machine you have access to, even if you
don't have permisssion to make NFS mounts.
