gnome-libs configure problem

as of 12.5. the configure scripts in the gnome-libs seem not to detect
the latest gdk_imlib from the CVS; they also don't detect the libtiff,
while the imlib configure does. is anybody having similar problems?

  checking for main in -ltiff... no
  checking for main in -lgif... yes
  checking for main in -lgdk_imlib... no
  configure: error: I could not find gdk_imlib
