Sounds cool. However, are you aware of the patent problems with MP3?
Take a look at href=http://www.mpeg.org/~tristan/MPEG/mp3-licensing-faq.html

The short version is, you can't make a free software MP3 player, only
one that is free for non-commercial use. So if you implement MP3, make
sure it is as a module that can be distributed separately, so that
GMedia can be distributed on CD.
