gnome hello compiling

howdy.

finally got around to installing 0.13!!!

i'm in the process of rewriting my cromagnon program in C. i've grown
increasingly tired of not being able to use the latest libgnome
enhancements in scheme.

i see the gnome-hello compile process is as complicated as the rest of
gnome, and i'm still trying to figure out how to compile a simple hello
world program-- short of copying all the libtool/automake jizz you guys
do in gnome-hello.

perhaps it would be helpful to include some docs (README?) in gnome-hello/
to give an example no how to compile your own gnome programs.

i'm trying to encourage a few students here to contribute to the gnome
project, but it seems the hardest thing for them is the "getting started"
bit. if i could show them how to compile a prog without having to
explain how the kernel works, i'd be happy ;-).

ideas, suggestions?

thanks

aldy
