GTK widgets stealing keypresses...

perhaps this should go to the gtk list, but anyway:

I've got two drawing areas, a toolbar with a few buttons and a scrollbar
packed into my gnome app widget (the ghex program). The problem is that
I would like to handle all the keypresses myself, but the widget with
the focus (and the scrollbar in particular, even when it hasn't got the
focus) keeps stealing the keypress events.

help, anyone? the info files don't help much...
