gdk_imlib errors from gmc and eeyes

I'm getting this from gmc on launch:

/usr/libexec/ld.so: Undefined symbol "_png_check_sig" called from
gmc:/usr/local/lib/libgdk_imlib.so.8.0 at 0x2015b16c

And this from eeyes whenever I try and load a jpeg:

/usr/libexec/ld.so: Undefined symbol "_jpeg_std_error" called from
eeyes:/usr/local/lib/libgdk_imlib.so.8.0 at 0x200e6244

Any guesses?
