Error executing gnome applications

[rinckemd RoseVC Rose-Hulman Edu]

I am running slackware 3.5 - linux 2.0.35
I am using pgcc-2.90.29( egcs 1.0.3a ) and libc6.
I grabbed all of the needed gnome modules from the CVS and got them to
compile fine.  
When I attempt to execute anything.  Panel, gcalc, etc... I get this exact
error message.

**ERROR**: could not allocate 134217728 bytes
Abort
#

This seems rather odd, does anyone know how to fix this?
