Trouble with GtkPerl

I am trying to use GtkPerl bindings and I have gtk+-1.1 and GtkPerl
0.2.2.  When I try to run any of the sample code I get a message
stating:
	perl: can't resolve symbol 'cv_derived_from' and then the
program quits.

Any and all help would be appreciated.
