I would love to see some actual use of LDAP in this area.  It would also 
be nice for document location stuff.  I remember reading about using LDAP 
for document location purposes somewhere, but have never heard of people 
using it.

The network transparency issue goes back to what someone previously 
posted about having the interface abstracted to where you didn't know 
about files or whatever the storage method/media is.
