Imlib and libgif

Right now, the imlib that is in CVS doesn't build unless you have libgif
installed, even though configure spits out a huge warning that says "***
building without gif support ****".
That problem aside, where can I get a copy of libgif? The only
references that I could find were parts of the kde distribution.
