The entire point is that the end application doesn't care how we implement
it. I think the library should have some kind of plug in translator (integrate
in Linuxconf and COAS) as well as a few grow your own configuration
engines.
The Design I have in my head is something like this:
[End User] -> [Gnome Application] \
[ Non-Gnome Application] \
- [Corba/ld.so] Configuration Manager.
[Configuration Manager - "Translator" - Sendmail
| - "LDAP" Directory to a LinuxLDAP server.
| - "MDS" Directory (Microsoft Active Directory)
| - XML Engine - (Layered)
| - ".db" Database "registry-lite" configuration.
| - Plain old Text Library.
So in many ways, it would be like PAM's layering.
