How do you checkout the "stable" code from CVS?

Subject: How do you checkout the "stable" code from CVS?

I am using
	cvs -z3 checkout -rGNOME_STABLE gnome-utils

to checkout packages (or update for update) from CVS.  However, on the
above command, I got the macros directory and that is it.  

Am I doing something wrong?
