Hmm, off the top of my head, there's UUCP, MAPI (yes, it's micro$oft, but
I would love to be able to connect to the email server at work), NNTP
(used for mail in some screwy instances).  I don't know what Lotus Notes
or cc:Mail use, but they might be relevant.
