Re: gnome



Linux' userfs appears to require no kernel changes - it's a module.  As
such, if it does cause deadlocks then that's its own problem!

userfs dispatches kernel filesystem requests direct to user mode
processes.  Several plugins exist, including ftpfs.

It's badly broken for 2.0.35 and appears to have fallen into disrepair. 
I'm in the process of finding out why, and what has to be done to it.

I must say, however, that the idea of implementing a VFS thing within an
NFS server adaption is quite brilliant.  It'll run on every platform and
across a network.  Who came up with this one?
