Balsa run problems

I just recompiled Balsa in hopes that I could fully use it
now.  However, when I ran it, the sound when and now window
came.  There was a pid for balsa (not zombied) when I ran ps
and I received the following in the xterm that I ran it from:

Looks like multiple problems to me, anyone have any helpful suggestions?
I would really like to get this up and running.
