audiofile & esound

Hi.

I hope this is the right place to post this since both of these programs
are under gnome.  If not, please send me to the right place.

I've been having trouble getting the esound configure script to
recognize that I have audiofile installed.  I've put the location of the
audiofile libaries "/usr/local/lib" in ld.so.conf and the location of
audiofile_config "/usr/local/bin" in my path, but it still doesn't find
them for some reason.  Can anyone help?

Also, linuxtest in audiofile doesn't work.
