It's supposed to compile, and many people have succeeded in the past.
There may be issues with the current CVS snapshot at any given time
though.

Note that Solaris, unlike Linux, does not ship with most of the required
GNU packages; so you will have to install a bunch of stuff Gnome depends
on.
