Can't build gnome-libs

Trying to build gnome-libs (third day in a row) with CVS sources, CVS
update today, Linux RH 5.0, ecgs-1.0.3. I get up to building
'gnometypes.c'. I get a million warnings from gnometypebuiltins_ids.c, and
then a crash:

 ... lots of warnings like so:

I don't see why 'i' is undeclared, either.  Any suggestions appreciated.
