Can't compile gtk+

Hi everybody,
I'm experiencing major problems compiling gtk+. I have checkout the
latest version from cvs and just made an update.
The result from autogen.sh --prefix=/usr/local/lib/gnome looks like
this:
aclocal: configure.in: 141: macro `AM_PATH_GLIB' not found in library
configure.in:125: warning: AC_TRY_RUN called without default to allow
cross compiling
configure.in:126: warning: AC_TRY_RUN called without default to allow
cross compiling
configure.in:341: warning: AC_TRY_RUN called without default to allow
cross compiling
configure.in:359: warning: AC_TRY_RUN called without default to allow
cross compiling
configure.in:373: warning: AC_TRY_RUN called without default to allow
cross compiling
loading cache ./config.cache
./configure: syntax error near unexpected token
`AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE($PACKAGE,'
./configure: ./configure: line 581: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE($PACKAGE,
$VERSION, no-define)'

Now type 'make' to compile GTK+.

There is a syntax error fault in the configure script! Has anyone else
experienced this?
