problems when running anything in Gnome

I've compiled everything in gnome-libs, gnome-core, and gnome-utils.


With nearly any application provided by these packages, I have the following 
problem (here is an example with "panel", but I got the same with gtop, gtt,
and so on) :

I don't know why, but "gncal" seems to work.

I am using version 0.13 with GTK+ version 1.0 on a RedHat 5.0 Pentium
90MHz with 32 MBytes.
MICO is 2.0.5
