X comes with `smproxy', a program that supports minimal session
management for non-SM-aware apps.  I don't know if it works with
window managers, though.  (I haven't looked into it at all.)  If it
does, then great.

smproxy relies on finding properties attached to windows.  It's
possible that wms don't set these properties.  I don't really know.
