(preliminary) announce: gnome (un)packing tool

howdy,

  i've started working on a winzip-like app for gnome. it's pretty basic
at the moment - displays contents of .tar files :) - but it should get
somewhere close to usable (hopefully) within a week or so. anyway, has
anyone else started working on a compression tool like this? if so, let me
know so effort isn't wasted on duplicate efforts.

  if anyone has some good ideas on what should (and should not) be
included in a compression tool, let me know .. at work, i use winzip all
the time, so at the moment, i'm aiming towards a 'winzip clone'.
