Thanks...I did eventually get it from some advice in #c on efnet.
I used the flags -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lglib -lgdk -lgtk -lX11 -lXext -lm

About readin more of the tutorial...yeah it should be moved up to after
the first example program or at l;east a link because like me for
instance...I stop if it doesn't work, instead of trying more just to be
more disgouraged....guess I shouldn't have quit.
