I seems that you can use the Gnome Keyring as a password vault through

Seems like code hasn't made it into core yet. Bummer.

Although now they should probably target the secret service api [1]. Then they can have nice integrated password storage on both GNOME and KDE :)

Is it also possible to use Gnome Keyring as generic crypto provider so that
you with one crypto module install in Firefox would get access to all
providers connected to the Gnome Keyring?

Yes! You can do this:

https://live.gnome.org/CryptoGlue/Integration#Firefox

Or add "/usr/lib(64)?/p11-kit-proxy.so" as a module.

If you're using a gnome-keyring version older than 3.0 the instructions vary slightly.

Although with the following caveat: the gnome-keyring key storage has some missing gaps. If you run into problems, I'll work with you on it. Ping me on IRC (gimp.net #keyring) or via email.

Cheers,

Stef
