Recently there was discussion [1] on the mailing list that the Secret
Service DBus API (which we use to store/lookup passwords in
gnome-keyring-daemon) needed a change [2] to denote what the content
type of the secret is being stored.
I've implemented basic support for this in gnome-keyring and
libgnome-keyring [3]. I haven't merged this yet, but will probably do so
tomorrow. It's available for review and comments.
Sadly this is a backwards/forwards incompatible change. The Secret
Service API has not yet reached stability. Because of this both
gnome-keyring and libgnome-keyring will need to be updated together at
the next release.
This means that a running gnome-keyring-daemon won't like to talk to a
newer libgnome-keyring.
Cheers,
Stef
