Re: Marketing GNOME Journal

A while back I had tried to work with red hat magazine on cross posting articles.  Eg they would use our articles in their magazine as a way to gain greater audience.  I suggest we do something like that.  I failed because I had no idea that the responses were being filtered by my spam filter.  I was so angry..  (which is why everything is being migrated to my gmail accounts)

So what I propose is to cross license our articles to other magazines for publication.  if we can get them translated we can even get them into foreign language magazines.

The last email I sent which mentioned blogging the release of GNOME
Journal led my brain to the next step - what is the best way to do a
new announcement regarding the release?  How do we (or should we)
market GNOME Journal in the Linux community or to our downstream
partners?

Could we get a mention in the weekly Ubuntu news?  What are some of
the other online sites we should send an email to?  Distrowatch,
lwn.net, OS News, Footnotes?  Who else?  What about the GNOME Facebook
group?

Do we have any volunteers who want to start working on drafting an
email to send out?

Doublechecking lgo, I see we have this page with the same ideas:
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeJournal/AnnouncementGuide

Anyone want to take a stab at updating that as well?

Thanks.

Paul

PS - Just another use case on why we want to migrate to Wordpress -
lots of plugins to help spread the news through social networking
sites, Digg integration, etc
